1970-1988: the Jardine Matheson Group, the longest established and once the most influential conglomerate in Hong Kong, in which he served in 11 senior positions including:
Chief Executive Officer of Zung Fu Co. Ltd. (distributor of Mercedes-Benz in Hong Kong)
Chief Executive Officer of Gammon Construction Ltd.
Director of Jardine Matheson Co. Limited
Director of Jardine shipping Limited
Group General Manager
1989-1994: Executive Vice-President and General Manager, Abdul Latif Jameel Group (ALJ)
ALJ was the largest private company in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) by turnover, and was the distributor of the following brands:
Toyota & Lexus
Toshiba (electronic and electrical appliances)
Akai (sound systems)
Philco (electrical appliances)
During Mr. Chan’s stay in the KSA,
the market share of Toyota increased significantly from 33% to 40%, Saudi Arabia became Toyota’s 2nd biggest export market for cars and auto parts
the 1st Lexus Centre in the Middle East was built
ALJ became the top 5 Toyota distributor for after-sales service in the world
1994: Mr. Chan returned to Hong Kong and has devoted to the development of the OTL growth ever since.
